Moon Soo-Kyung

Park Seo-Young
Abstract
This study examines the effect of family support as a mediating factor between work conditions and depression. Methods: Eight hundred elderly adults dwelling in Gyunggi province participated in this study. Results: The researchers identified sex, education, and health conditions as the primary factors in the relationship between work conditions and family support. They found that age, education, and health conditions were the main factors in the relationship between work conditions and depression. In addition, they found that family support had a full mediating effect on the relationship between work conditions and depression, thus suggesting that family support reduces depression. Conclusions: The results of this study show that work conditions do not directly influence depression, as family support can serve as a buffer. Based on these results, the researchers recommend ways to reduce depression.
